Full Exhaust Vs. Slip on
besides the price... what is the difference in having a full aftermarket exhaust compared to a slip on?
is it really worth spending the extra money because it is a signifcant amount of money?

full exhaust
pros - more power, lighter then stock, sounds better
cons - more expensive, remap/rejet
slip on
pros - sounds better, no need to remap/rejet, cheaper
cons - no power gains

It depends on what you want. For improved sound only, get a slip on. For improved sound and performance, get a full exhaust. The full exhaust can add a few hp. Not anything noticeable on the street. But, with a full exhaust, you should also get a high flow air filter(eg, K&N) because of the increased flow of a full exhaust system and a power commander. Then, you should also get the power commander mapped to take full advantage of the high flow air filter and full exhaust system.
unless you plan on racing (or if you just want the most hp) i would recommend a slip-on. full systems do make more power. that's a fact. but the power gains on the slip-ons verses the full system is up for debate. if you are after the look and the sound, slip-on is the way to go. and the money saved will buy other parts that you want. just my opinions.
Slip ons will add power, but only in the range of 2-5 hp. A Full exhaust a little more, but your power increase will be in the mid to upper rpm range.
I have a 3/4 Devil exhaust with a power commander and OEM filter, my 01 929 and it made 136 rwhp.

I ride only on the street. However, I would love to be near a track. Anyway, the answers I recieved were pretty much what I expected. Thanks for the quick replies. I guess I'll just have to get the slip on setup.

hey Calkidd do you have any problems with people ridding on the back of your 929 with the high mount exhaust? does your girl ever bitch about burning her leg? etc..
No, the can is carbon fiber so it runs a little cooler than a metal one. But since it on the right side and she gets off the to the left there really has never had a problem with her leg touching the can.
