Default Fuel tank help/advice

Hey guys, got an "issue". I had my F4 tank acid dipped to clean the rust out of it (had lots of rust inside) and turned up with some pin-holes in it. From my experience, these pin-holes are usually due to the tank having basically rusted through and the acid taking out the rust, thus leaving a hole.

So, now I have this fully stripped and cleaned tank, with holes in it. My first thought was "well f*... guess I get to buy a new tank", but then it hit me that since I want to wrap the tank in carbon fiber anyways, why not just wrap the tank I have and let the carbon cover the holes. Then if I coat the inside of the tank with fuel tank sealer, I should have a "like new" tank.

Yes/no? Any advice on a good fuel tank sealer?

Thanks,
Chris

I would have someone MIG weld all the holes. Better safe than sorry.

I can MIG them myself (I planed to TIG the joints closed) but just didn't see much point if I'm going to wrap fiber over the entire tank. Though, it certainly wouldn't hurt.

Por15. I don't think I'd 'hope' the CF seals it ok its own.

Thanks guys. I'll TIG it and go from there. The reason I didn't think anything of just wrapping it, is that fuel tanks are often made entirely of fiberglass and/or carbon.

I think the reason everyone's recommending the mambo fix, is it'd suck
if the liner and CF route failed. I'd go the extra mile, just to be absolutely
sure. You definitly won't have any second thoughts, if you TIG the pinholes
before lining and CF-ing it.
