Default fuel stabilizer?

My wife and I were in a bad car wreck last weekend and my shoulder will probably need surgery before I even think about getting on my bike again. In the mean time, the CBR will just sit in my garage waiting patiently for my return ride. How long can the gas sit before I need to put fuel stabilizer in it? or would it be best to just drain the tank?

Stabilizer isn't a bad idea... but it's completely unnecessary. depending on your climate, gas can (and usually does) last over 8 months storage.

I would put it in. Why risk it. I didn't use it in my wife's bike last winter and had to take it in and pay to have it cleaned up because we waited until the last minute. Anyways, a little Sta-Bil would've saved me aggravation and money. Why not? It certainly won't hurt.

Before you park it ,turn the gas petcock off and let bike idle until the carb runs out of fuel-If it has a carb and isn't fuel injected. Also make sure you store with a full tank of fuel-dont overfill though.

Sorry, forgot to mention that it's a f4i-no petcock. but, hopefully I won't be out longer than 3 mos. And it stays pretty warm in South Texas. Come to think of it, I don't thinkwe've had a freezethis year. I think I will get some Sta-bil just to play it safe. Thanks!

Good call, I would just play it safe and use the Stabil so you don't have to worry about the fuel goin bad. I use it in both my bikes and my show truck during the winter.
