I am trying to bring back to life a cbr 600 1989 ( CHEAPLY ) I have bought a fuel pump relay off ebay and noticed numbers are different!! Faulty relay on bike CF 318 AND 8.N AND 072 part I have bought CF318 AND 9.0 AND 232 . Will this relay be okay? Does anyone know what these numbers mean? Any help would be appreciated . Stuart.

 

The 072 and 232 are date codes. February 1987 and February 2003. I'm having trouble with the 8.n and 9.o but they should be some sort of identifier that I can't properly translate. I would say ANSI codes but I doubt that Japanese manufacturers cared much about those in the 80's. On the microfiche, it shows T4.6 and 231 so I'm guessing that those numbers are arbitrary and that the relay you have will work. Only one way to find out.....

 

Thanks for that. It will be a while before bike is in a state to test all the new parts i`m buying butthe factyou think it will be okay is good enough for me. Do you know if a cbr 400 nc23 1986 fuel pump will fit a cbr 600 1989? Someone is selling one cheap on ebay ,finishes soon !!

 

Not sure about the pump itself. If you know the flow ratings, you could figure it out. Universal pumps can be used fairly easily in a motorcycle and those are all over the place for cheap.
