Default Fuel pump question

I have a question about replacing a fuel pump. The bike in question is not a CBR it is an FZR600. My buddy has it and the shop said the pump was bad and quoted him $700 for them to fix it. I'd like to help him out because I sold him the bike and he's had nothing but trouble since and put maybe 250 miles on it in the year he had it. Strange because that bike kicked *** while I owned it. Is this somthing i should be able to do myself? Anyone replace their fuel pump? Is it inside the gas tank? Thanks in advance.

That's outrageous. Is that for the gold plated pump? The service manual should be on here or available by googleing. I am not familiar with that particular bike, but I really doubt that you would not be able to do it.
