Default Fuel Pump problem on 06 Krr

Hey if the bikes low fuel light stays off and you check the wiring to find out that the PUMPs SENDING UNIT has failed. Is there any way of fixing the sending unit. I do not want to buy a whole new pump for 300 dollars just for the sending unit the bike starts, runs, and gets me cruisin no problem. My question is since the light is always off that means the float/sending unit isnt seeing the low fuel some how. Isnt there a way to dislodge the float from the top of the travel (if there is even a float, pretty sure there has to be)
Thanks

my bike is 2006 cbr 1000rr

Does your bike have a fuel gauge ? Does the level change ? There is a float that moves up and down, it's attached to the fuel pump.
