ok, so a couple of days ago my fuel pump made a funny noise when it was priming the fuel before i started the bike(not the usually humming noise it does when it primes). i didnt think anything of it. so i went riding and in about an hour into riding my bike started idling weird and it backfired and she cut out. While this was happening the FI light came on...So got her home and let her sit and then tried starting it and the fuel pump didnt make the same weird noise. but after about ten minutes she started to idle weird and then she gave out. Sometimes when i rev it high it starts to cut out.

could this be my fuel pump? or my fuel filter being clogged? or what do you guys think it is?

Please any help will be much appreciated!

How many miles?

The fuel pump going out can happen, but its sort of uncommon to happen. If your bike is an F4i, it would be a good idea to check the Fuel Pressure Regulator.

Pop off the vacuum line that leads to it. If there is fuel in it, your FPR is bad. thats not the only check for it, but its the most common problem.

 

its an 01 F4i. Its got 11,500miles on it. So u really think thats the problem is the FPR???

 

why dont you check out what the fi light is and start there? download the manual if you dont have it, jump the test plug like the manual will say and count the blinks. Look up the code in the manual. I would start there before you start guessing or replacing parts.

 

Not really sure. Just offering a suggestion of what it could be, and its pretty easy to check it. And its a common problem with that bike.
