Default fuel light

Hi guys.. i have this problem.. i have a 99 600 fx.. when i bought it, the pre owner said to me that the fuel light bulb had to be replace.. so i dont know when i am empty.. i was riding the other day and the light turned up.. ??? so i thought that the bulb is not burned.. but i have ran and out of gas 2 times... and the light nothing... so now i dont now if i have to replace the light.. or i have a fuel sensor or something broke... please some help with that...

well, the light is cheaper to replace. Might be all corroded or something in there. Pull it out, check it and replace it. If the socket is corroded and stuff, get some electrical contact cleaner (parts store) and clean it out, the use some bulb grease to put it back in. Total cost to try, less than $10. Otherwise check the wires from the bulb to the sensor. If still no good, then its probably the sensor.

Thanks for that... to take the bulb out.. you have to pull it out under the dash?

as far as i know yeah, on my 95 im flexible enough to get to the bulbs without taking the dash off

Not sure if this was ever resolved. My fuel light worked when I first bought the bike but has stopped working. I Ran out of fuel before it came on today. I Tore the dash apart and it turns out that it uses LED's soldered onto a circuit board for this light. No way to replace the bulb like older bikes. 2000 F4. Taking the tank off next i guess.
