Default Fuel Filter Help?

I have a 92 CBR600 F2 which has been shutting off at higher speeds, usually giving a little shutter before shutting off completely. When I come to a stop, she'll start up fine, but as soon as i get above 55-ish it'll happen again. A few people i've talked to about it say it's probably a clogged fuel filter or the fuel lines. I'm wondering how hard it is to do this and if i can do it myself. Has anybody had this problem before?

[align=left][blockquote]I havnt had this problem but i can sure try to show u how to get to your air unit!
First take off your two back fairings, then remove the two bolts holding down the seat. Slide the seat up, and off. Now you need to take your tank off. (when doing this your gonna spill a bunch of gas so dont do this in the middle of your living room lol. There are 3 things holding down the tank. 1 large bolt near the battery. 2. A small bolt near your controls, and 3. The fuel lines . Take the first larger screw off near your battery, then the small one up near your handlebars. Then start undoing your gas lines. Take the two overflow ones off first, then unscrew the tank. And flip it over quick or else youre gonna have a bunch of gas everywhere! Once the tank is off you'll see your air unit. Its the big black thing. And in the air unit is your airfilter, and under the airfilter is your carbs. But there are like four bolts i think holding down the top where your air filter is unbolt those and there ya go!. It may seem hard but its super easy, and its essential to know. To give you an idea of how easy it is, first day i had my bike i did this.. hah

Hope that helped!

I just replaced the fuel filter on my 94' and it was also quite easy. Simply remove your tank like nieuwsma stated. Underneath the tank you will see what is called a petcock assembly. It is what the fuel lines connect to. There is a bolt at the base of the assembly ( 1"I believe). Loosen this fastener *with the tank upside down of course.* Gently pull the unit off of the tank and you will see your fuel filter. The filter pulls off easily. If you see any build up or residue around the base of the stem that you removed the filter from, then clean it with brake parts cleaner or something similar. If the filter that was on there is in good condition, you could probably just clean it and reinstall it; but I would recommend just getting a new one. A new filter will cost you about $25. Don't forget about the rubber washer, but it should be included. Remember to put the petcock back on the way it came off. Hope that helps.

I took of the gas tank and found the petcock assembly, but i didn't see anything that looked like a fuel filter. Is it inside the petcock assemby or actually attached to the gas tank?

the assembly is attached to the tank. Once you remove the petcock assembly, you will find the fuel filter attached.

Got it running again, turned out to be something clogging the lines. I took of the air box and blew some starter fluid through the jets til it cleared it and started. She's running great again, Thanks for your help!
