Front sprocket will not come off! help!
ok i am changing my chain/sprockets and have the rear installed but the fropnt will not come off for the life of me.
I put the bike into first gear and attached my socket wrench to the bolt. when i tug on that damn thing with all of my might (and im a big guy) the only thing that happens is i start to move the gear. the gear is moving the gearbox as i tug. am i doing something wrong? I have a CBR 929rr.

Had the same problem. This is what I did. I hadn't taken off the rear wheel yet so I sat on the bike and applied the rear brake to lock up the whole drivetrain and leaned over with the socket and loosened that way. Worked great. Hope this helps.
the chain was already off before i did the front sprocket.
I did manage to get it off. I had to buy a 9/16 socket with a 1/2" drive for my big rachet. by doing that it was soooo much easier with the extra leverage. But the thing kept spining so i took some pliars and wedged them in the gear so it wouldn't move.

Get a BFH..........lol[sm=joke.gif] sound s like you should get the back tire back on the bike so that you can put the leverage on the nut without the gears moving. Like Jeff said
