Default Front End Alignment?

I went down about a month ago and I finally got the bike running today. I noticed that the front end seemed to be out of alignment.

When the front wheel is strait on the road the tripple tree is canted to the right. It does not seem to pull but I can tell and it bugs the hell out of me.

Can someone write up how to align the front end (hopefully w/ pics)? I have an 02 F4i but I'm sure they are all pretty similar.

Thanks a lot!

you gotta rock the forks.

remove them, make sure their straight using a glass plate or something and lay it acroass the two forks in the tripples.

if the glass has a gap. somethings tweeked.

I had the same issue recently, althoughnot fromgoing down. Check this thread and see the posts by TimBucTwo and Stray Cat:

I followed their advice and visually my front wheel and upper triple tree appear betteraligned when parked. I haven't actually ridden since I made the adjustments, though. Too cold at the moment.

Hope this helps.

Lift the front end off the ground. Take the front wheel and front fender off because it makes the front end lighter and you won't damage the fender (Dropping tools and stuff). Loosen the steering stem nut on the upper triple and then loosen the pinch bolts for the forks. You should be able to slide them up and down easily. I always pull the forks tubes out of the upper clamp and then slide them back into place (Make sure theupper clamp can move freely). This will realign the lower and upper triple clamps. After tightening everything back down, test it with knight’s test to confirm alignment.
