Touch the two wires together. If the light comes on, replace the switch. You can try cleaning it first if you want to. There is a thread about it somwhere around here.

You say that no light has been coming on. Are you referring to the light on the Test Light tool ? If that is the case, and you've got the tool properly connected, then you probably don't have the 12v supplying the Front Brake Light Switch. The connectors for the wiring harnesses that feed the switch are located behind the gauge cluster. There is a 4P connector and the Black/Brown wire should have 12v on it all the time. See if you have that. Your test light should light up if you put it on that wire.

they're both hot. the brake light is grounded separately. the switch makes and breaks your positive connection to the taillight, thus turning it on and off. make sure the switch isn't dead. i've had a few over the years go out on me. the ones that have broke don't make the "clicky" sound. so as demon suggested, make the connection between those two wires. if it still doesn't light up, you know the problem is elsewhere. there are connectors under for the handlebar wires too - it could be that a contact has become corroded in that connector. grab a wiring diagram and get to it

Have you tested the BULB to see if it has gone ?

Stephygee.com for the manual. Skip the intro and look at the bottom of the he page. Manual is on that page, wiring diagram is in the back of the manual.

He says the brake light works by the rear switch. If this is true, the bulb works.
