Frame polishing questions.

Frame polishing questions.
As some may know I just got my first bike. Since winter is almost here I was thinking of polishing my frame. I know I need to remove plastics, tank, and other stuff. Whats the best way to polish it? Any tips, best polish to use, tools to do it? I know some of you have done this so any help would be great.
I think it would be a nice winter project for it. When I get access to put up a pic I will ASAP. Thanks for the help...Vinman

its a total pain in the butt to do right and a total pain in the butt to keep right, but all three of my bikes are polished and it looks awesome its just alot of mantience..
you need wet/dry sandpaper starting at the lowest and work way right up to 1500 to 2000 and then rubbing compound.. the paste not "liquid" or you'll make a total mess and easily after two hours or so on just one side you should start to see what your looikg for.the hardest part is getting the factory clear off.. personally i would utube it.. thats how i learned.. and i would do a very small area under the plastics,, that way when you figure out how hard its going to be, you might reconsider a different route to go..

There's a thread, where a photographer did a complete tear-down/polish.
He did an awesome job documenting the process, with both pics and how
he went about it.

Madhattr059,
Thanks for the link. I read all 18 pages. Thats is a sick write up. I may do the same for my polishing job....I did same thing on my car fourm when I rebuilt my $3,500 motor. I don't even have the bike yet and already I want to tear it down and clean it up. The bike arrives next weekend if all goes well. It has 20K on it (95 model) so it shouldnt be too bad. The pervious owner kept it real clean and hardly drove it.
Off topic here's a link to pics of my 21 yr old Import That I have put way to much money in. I got a funny feeling my bike is going to be the same. But keeping the outside as stock as possible..
First upgrade may be brakes, Rotors and powder coated calipers.
