Before using the good ole sand paper method I would suggest getting some anodizing remover and then sand down the rough spots. Different people use different methods I had a 03 gsxr 1000 black frame and used this only took about 30 mins to get everything black off and just had to wet sand from there on the rough areas. Havent done it on my 1000rr yet but plan to get around to it sometime in the next 2 weeks. New baby doesnt leave much time for bikes neither do new wives. I plan to start on the rims this weekend I will post some pics. Later and good luck

My buddy owns a polishing shop and did most the work on my bike. we used some chemical to strip the powder coating. he said it makes the proccess go much smoother for him. I know there is a kit on ebay called "chromefx" and that kit has everything in it to do polish work and its about $160.00 I have one of these kits and used it on small parts and for stripping anodizing and it did work awesome for that.

i polished the motor on my zx9

completely stripped the bike to a bare frame
and had it with stripper, sander and polishing wheel

turned out great

but required constant upkeep to keep the AL from tarnishing
