Default Flat spot

Evening all, the 600rr I picked up had been sat in the guys garage for 7 months. Been out a couple times on it and it rides ok but a guy at work mentioned a "flat spot" as it been sat on a rear paddock stand with all the weight on the front tyre. I assume this would be noticeable but it looks ok ! What's your thoughts ?

G'Day Dazb

If the front tyre had a flat spot you *would* notice it during a ride. A regular thump, thump, thump as the wheel turned. I have bikes that sit for months on their centre stand with weight on the front wheel - not as much weight that a rear paddock stand would cause, but have never had a problem with flat spots.

Cheers, SB

Make sure you check the tires for dry rot etc... Cracks in the sidewall can spell disaster!

Yes definitely make sure the tires aren't rotted or cracking. If you can't feel a vibration or a thumping while riding the bike and the tires are in good shape I wouldn't worry about it.

The DOT number on the sidewall will tell you when the tire was manufactured.. should be a 4 digit number, the first two are the week (01-52) and the second are the year. Personally I wouldn't run on anything older than 4-5 years.
