quinC only on harley type tanks u can do this, sportbike tanks are actually 2 layers if u cut it in half u will see there is a tank inside your tank , harley tanks are single layered so u can only do that method for those.

You cant use compressed air. The metal is too thick. Paintless dent removal isn't too much $$$$!!!! It depends on the size of the dent and where it is located on the tank, but it will only cost $10-30!!! I dont know why people keep suggesting to pop it out and then bondo. Only do that if the dent is too big. Why do stud pull, when you can hot glue the tab on the tank and pop it out with that. Yes, hot glue is strong enough, cause that what our dent gut uses. He's been doing this for 20 years now. If you want to spend money that you dont have to, then go ahead and bondo, repaint, etc.... Post a picture of the dent and I could give you an estimate. Like I said earlier, look in your phone book for a local dent repair specialist. Despite what some people think, that is the cheapest and best way to do it.

fill the tank with water and freeze it, it will expand pushing the dent out.

or you could just leave the gas in it and throw a lit match in there. the explosion will push the dent back out. lol

seriously, sounds like a pretty big dent (you stated golf ball size). that's too big to deal with. i might think about the pops-a-dent thing since it's cheap but i honestly don't have much faith in something like that working. i would either replace the tank or just deal with the dent. tell everyone that a rock thrown off rossi's back tire hit you while doing 190 down the straight at laguna while battling for the lead. everyone will think that you are so full of crap that they will no longer notice the dent!

I'd get other estimates for prices on the painting. $600 sounds pretty expensive. I only say this because my family has owned and operated a finishing shop for the past 23 years.
