First bike - suggestions?
It really is! It has some reeeeeeally nice sounding dual exhaust! I'm still trying to figure out how he got it so cheap! It just sucks that he can't ride it for a few more weeks due to the fact that his arm is still in a sling from surgery!
There are always deals out there...Keep looking! I'd still pick up the rr over the F2, I owned an F2 and while it was a great bike...it's nice to have something nice that you can depend on too. I'd go with the rr, but that's just me! Good luck with whichever you choose!
personally id go with that f2, get some new fairings for it, and stick with it for a while, theyre solid bikes, and if the engines recently been rebuilt then all the better!
Nothing wrong with having an older bike, and in reality these bikes are just as capable as newer ones with a little suspension work/upgrade, and you wont be as bummed if/when you drop it in the garage

Well considering you're talking about dropping $1,500-$2,000 on the F2 here, why not spend the extra dough and get a fuel injected bike that you don't need to do any work to, is already capable of things that the older bikes aren't in stock form, and have more available parts since it's a newer model. Plus the newer styling, and a lot of other factors.
The F2 you might get about the same price as you bought it for in a few years when you sell it, the 600rr you should get the same price, maybe a few hundred less. Either one you'll lose about the same money on so I would go with the newer bike, but that's just me. Fuel Injection is nice to have too
The only thing is, I could have the f2, buy gear, buy parts for the bike, and still have some $ left over.
I've decided that WHEN I buy my new bike, I'm going to drop about 5-6grand and try to find a decent 07-08rr. If I tried to find a deal like my buddies, I'd have to wait another month or two to get gear, insure it, etc. While next year - by the summer I could buy an RR and maybe upgrade my gear, etc if I sell the f2

Hey, I have my permit now and, if everything goes right, which is highly unlikely, ill be getting the f2 this weekend! Ive decided to take the cheaper path. Ill keep you guys updated!
I did the same thing. Got my first bike in March and at first I was looking at newer bikes from a dealership. After going over my options I ended up just getting a 97' 600F3, and I am very happy I ended up getting this bike. F2/F3's are still great bikes and have plenty of pick up and top end for a first bike.
