Default Suggestions on which bike

Hey there.

I'm kind of overwelmed by all the various F4i's out there and looking for some suggestions.
I started riding again about a year ago and wanted a CBR, but decided to start on something much less powerful to get my riding legs back. Currently have a Suzuki GS500 and have put a lot of miles on her and am tapping it out. I feel like I'm finally ready for the power of th 600 SS.

I have settled on the F4i but am looking for differences year to year. I'm hoping to keep the cost between $3-5k and like the looks of the ones without the single seat that runs all the way back. Not really sure how to describe it....looking for the the stepped seat?

Not sure if that's enough info, but I'd appreciate any info to help me gather the data I need to make a decision. I've done some searching and checked out the wiki's but wanted to come right to the experts.

Thanks in advance.

01 to 03 has two separate seats. U can see mine in my sig. Its an 02. The 04 and newer f4i's have the long banana seat. You should have no problem finding a low mileage f4i in that price range.

Like the other guys have said, the seat your talking about is the split seat and it was standard on the 01-03 F4is. The longer seat is called a banana seat and is the standard now.

I won't lie, I paid too much for my F4i, $5000 for an 01' in nearly mint condition with 6500 miles on it. You should have absolutely no problem finding a nice F4i within your price range. Keep in mind you might get a better deal depending on the state you look in and the time of year. For example bikes in Cali are always $$$ because wages are higher and the season is longer than say Idaho where I live. It might be worth your while to look at neighboring states and areas for a used bike.

P.S. Be patient, don't make a mistake like I did and rush into something. I only ended up paying a bit more than it was probably worth, but the bike has been a dream. No regrets

Thanks for the input. Since I already have a ride, I SHOULDN'T be in a rush, but I know myself and it will become an emotional purchase pretty fast. Just feel the need for much more.

I live in Annapolis, MD. So not a cheap area and the season is just starting, not the best time to look. But F it.

Just for clarity - my basic understanding of the differneces between F4i and RR is displacement for track, and some differences in ergonomics - the comfort benefit going to the F4i.....is that right?
