hey everyone i just signed up after checkin out this forum for awhile. i got a 2001 F4I and the FI light is on. first off it stays on! it doesnt flash at all. i was wondering if there is some kind of procedure to make it flash, cycle the key or the kill switch etc.

i've read that alot of them end up being vaccuum leaks or the map sensor. i had my tank off probably a month and a half ago to be painted and it ran fine until last night.

i dont work on bikes so im kinda shootin in the dark but dont have alot of cash to take it to the shop yet. any advice would be appreciated

 

yeah under your passenger seat there is a two pin connector jump the connector with a wire if you give me the number of blinks i'll tell you the code 1 long blink eqauls 10 and fast blinks 1 there can be more than one cod popped also

 

awesome i just tried that this morning. and i got a a 12 and a 9? it blinked once and paused and then twice fast. then it blinked 9 times in a row fast. it rides fine but the dam light wont go off.

 

I wont be able to check the codes until I go to work on monday and I dont remember off the top of my head how to erase the codes ill post all this on monday night for you . I think it might be this jump wire turn on bike unplug wire for a sec then jump again try that if it does work then ride the bike for a while then rejump the wire to see if the codes come back if they do you have something going on

 

awesome thanks. i was lookin around and found a link to a site with a manual to download. so if figured out what code it was and messed with it a bit. now i got a 2 code instead of a 12 and 9. checked my map and had a hard time testing it. so put it all back together and the light went away. but started to idle funny like it was missing. then it got better but when i gave it some gasthe rpms went down way low and then it died. then my battery went dead some how. charging right now and hopefully i come up with something

 

ok so i messed with it allday on sat. checked out my map sensor cuz that was the code i got after clearing them the first time. un plugged it and put a vaccuum gauge to it and all that jazz. put it back together and it still ran bad and then died and my battery went dead to. charged my battery and road it home keeping on the throttle so it wouldnt die. pulled in my drive way and it ran fine. light was off and all. road up and down the street a few times and it was fine. road it allday the next day and still ran fine. i guess i have the magic touch or something cuz i have no idea what i did. but im not complaining.
