Default F4i Plugs and Wires Maintenance Intervals

2002 F4i, 16K miles: Bike seems to be running well and has been for the last 4K miles that I've had it. I continue to work through the maintenance categories for peace of mind and to establish reference points with the high priority items (cct, oil, coolant....) done.

Is there a recommended mileage/time interval for the plugs and wires? I suspect that these are the original components the bike came with. Being ten years old are there concerns about the wires becoming brittle or the plugs being at the end of their life span? Tks

The replacement interval on the spark plugs is 16K miles with an inspection every 8K miles. You'll find that many people replace them much sooner, but that is their choice. As for the wires, unless you suspect them of giving you problems, or they have the appearance of being bad, I'd let them be. I have a 1994 CBR 1000F with 40K miles, original wires, no issues. A 1997 CBR 600F3 with 55K miles and original wires, no issues. A 1998 CBR 600F3 with 44K miles on it and no issues there... are you starting to see a pattern here ? I'm sure your wires are fine, and probably will be for some time to come.

your bike doesnt have spark plug wires. it's got a coil on each plug. one less thing to worry about....
