Default F4i, high beams flickering + other questions.

Hey guys,

I'm sorry if this is a newb-y post. I searched and counted find any definitive answers.

My bike is a 2002 F4i with around 11.5K miles on it. I have noticed that when riding at night and trying to turn the highbeams on, the lights will flicker at first (the headlight symbol on the dash also flickers.) Sometimes it will take a second for the lights to come on, and sometimes they will come on and go from dim to bright a few times. If I flip the switch back and forth quickly the problem normally goes away. Is this a common problem? Is it the switch itself that is failing or something different?

On a side note, I believe my CCTL is bad. The bike makes a buzzing/rattling sound around 5000 RPMs and up. It is not as noticeable when revving, but when the RPMs are held at that level for a few seconds you can hear it pretty well. Based on the stories I read on this forum, I kind of assume it is the CCTL, but I wanted to double check with you all before I purchased a new one.

Thanks in advance for the help!

check all connectors, grounds, and inside that switch. there is a loose connection somewhere. as for the noise, its difficult to here it over here.... but the cct is common.
