Default F4i 2001 Cluster

Hi All

I am trying to bring a 2001 F-Sport back to life after it sitting in a garage for 9+ years and I have an instrument cluster that's not behaving.

The backlight, neutral and F1 lights work, but the LCD display and needle don't move. I have cleaned the connectors and tested all fuses but no luck.

Any thoughts/ideas on what to try next?

There is a 9P black connector that has a Red/Green wire in it. That is the 12v supply to the cluster. Fuse "F" protects that circuit. Check to see if you're getting 12v to that wire when you turn the ignition key on. Actually, now looking at the wiring diagram more closely, it should have 12v all the time. It keeps the clock and trip meter running. That entire circuit is protected by the main 30A fuse that is in the Starter Relay Switch by the battery.

As a test could I just run a separate 12v supply direct to the red/green wires?

Yes you could. If it works, then look for the cause of there not being 12v there. I would not recommend leaving a bypass in place due to the potential for a short and fire from an unfused 12v supply running through the bike.
