f2 wiring harness with f3 fuel pump?
Hello all, I'm still new here but was wondering if anyone has done this mod and if so which wire piggybacks the O/B wire on the f2 harness. I know this sounds stupid, but I bought a streetfighter that was not very well done and now im trying to piece this harness together to avoid buying new carbs to make this more toward original look. Any help would be priceless.
its an f2 that had an f3 harness and fuel pump. i got everything i thought it would need before i tore into it thinking it was all original except the speed cluster, and turns out was an expensive mistake. now im trying to hook my f2 harness up so ill have an accurate speedo, ang cant figure out which wire to piggyback the pump to.
If you have an F2, you don't need the fuel pump. They never had one to begin from the factory. Im not sure what other complications you may run into by hooking one up to a bike that never had one. Since that bike never had the fuel pump circuit, it may be hard to get one to work correctly. Your bike is missing all of the needed components, like the fuel pump relay, the fuel pump cut relay...ect. Plus, I don't know how your gravity fed carbs would do with a fuel pump added.
If you already know this and are still trying to hook up the pump. I don't really have anything to offer. Other than finding an igntion hot with a volt meter. But then you would have the fuel pump on all the time, which may not be good. Im not sure if those pumps have an internal shut off, or if they are shut off by an outside relay once a certain resistance is met. If they are shut off internally by pressure build up, you can run a constant ignition hot. You could always hook it up to direct 12v power and listen to it. If the pumping slows and then stops, you more than likely have an internally regulated pump that can be hooked up to a constant ignition hot.
But maybe someone here has a better answer.

Yeah, the other guy put f3 carbs on the bike and f3 airbox and harness. It was running and i drove it home which is where i found all this other crap. Probably shoulda just left it alone and just changed the front end. thanks for the info.
