Default Extended Swing Arm Back To Stock?

Hey guys! I have an 08 CBR 1000rr I bought with a 6" myrtle west swing arm extension just like these

Honda CBR 1000RR (2008-2012) BLACK Bolt On Swingarm Extension by Myrtle West

I want to return it back to stock seems fairly straight forward, just remove the blocks, get a shorter chain, and shorter adjusting bolts.

1. Can I just pickup the same bolts only shorter at the hardware store? Or do they need to be special honda bolts?

2. The chain thats on the bike now has a master link, and has obviously worn on the sprockets. Instead of buying a shorter chain and new sprockets, can I just take some links out of this one? Never shortened a chain before, whats the best way to go about doing it?
