Hey everyone. I have a 1996 cbr 600 f3 that i tried to get inspected yesterday. everything mechanically was in great condition he said but there is a two brothers racing slip on when i bought the bike and he said he cant pass the bike for inspection because of it. He said because its a baffle which is appearently illegal in Maine where I liveso he saysI have to get a new muffler. I had never heard of this before and I always see sport bikes for sale with two brother or yoshi or other type exhausts for sale and was wondering how they passed there inspections. Are there different types of slip ons? If anyone could help id really appreciate it. i really dont wanna buy a new exhaust when the one I have now works and sounds great.

I've never heard of that law, but then again, I'm in NY. I always thought that it was based on a decible level. So... Just get a stock can and put it on there for long enough to get it inspected. Do you know someone with a stock can that you could just borrow for the inspection, then put your goods back on it?

In just about every state any modification to the factory equipped exhaust system is illegal, just a lot of states are a lot more lax in upholding it. Most people keep their stocker, and just swap it on for inspection time, then put the aftermarket pipe back on once it's over with.
