Default Exhaust

Hi, I have a 94 f2 and I am having a exhaust leak problem. This is my first bike I bought used, I had it looked at by a mechanic today and he said the bike is in good condition besides the exhaust leak. He told me I need to replace the exhaust gaskets. I bought the gaskets but he said it would cost about 120 to get them installed. My question is... can't I just do this myself. If anyone has any suggestions I owuld appreciate it. Thanks

120 installed? that is WAY too much. yes you can do it yourself...with very little know how and a torque wrench.
where is it leaking from? headers i assume?

Yikes... I just got back in from trying to replace the gaskets. Physically impossible, at least with the tools I have. I was able to remove 2 of 3 bolts on the left side but the third is impossible to reach with the torque needed. I was out there for 3 hours and I made my leak a little worse. I think I will go looking for some better tools but i also may get another estimate from another place. Any suggestions on tools or techniques for removing the exhaust?

did you remove the radiator and fan first? it'll give you much more room to work with.
also download the shop manual from www.stephygee.com will help you lots!

Actually I went and got some better tools.... I just removed and repainted the exhaust and replaced the gaskets today.... took me about 3 hours.... GOT A KILELR SUNBURN... and snapped one of the bolts in the engine... I was able to get it out but now I think I am down 2 bolts... the previous owner only had 3 gaskets in there and was already missing a bolt. Thank You for the advice again... the web site is really good. Cheers
