I have a 2001 929 with 11, 500 miles. The motor has a loud knocking sound. When i pull the clutch lever in the knocking stops. Also if i rev the bike past 2000 the motor stops knocking. What could this be and where should I start?

sometimes if the crankshaft has too much runout from ware it will do this. get you a statascope and try to hear from what side the knock comes from.if it is louder on the right than the left that is probably your problem. if it is louder on the right side it is the clutch being loose.

 

i said that backwards, if it is louder on the left that is probably you problem.
