Electrical bugs!
Electrical issues are my least favourite kind of issue. Two days ago my '89 CBR600F was running without a single issue.
Now it has no headlight; first the dipped beam stopped working, then the next day, the main beam died. Normally, in my experience, the main beam filament in dual filament bulbs keeps working My thought (& hope) is just the bulb has gone so just waiting for a new one to arrive. I did see some suggestion around the relay. Is there a way to diagnose the culprit before I dive in & pull things apart?
The bit that has me a little nervous is the speedo, total & trip mileage rotary dial suddenly stopped working the same day. There was no intermittent problem with it; one second the speedo worked, then it didn't. Dash still lights fully, even the speedo illumination bulb, so I'm guessing either the actual sensor has died or there's a loss connection in the dash? Again, any way to tell which?
I've already tried the industry-standard hit-a-few-large-bumps-to-jolt-a-loose-connection method with no success.
Given these two issues happened so close, I'm wondering if this is a sign or bigger problems or just coincidence that two issues happened at the same time.

The speedometer is mechanical, so check the cable and drive gear.
Now, you can check the connector at the bulb for power and look at the bulb to see if it's blown. It may just be as simple as a bulb. What you want to check is your charging voltage at the battery. If it's too much, it will blow bulbs then other things if it's not addressed.
