Default Drill Inserts for Spools not working

i drilled the spool hole and inserted the metal insert for a 8mm bolt, and when i try to tighten the spool, the insert just spins, i think i have to somehow "pull in" the insert to clamp it onto the swingarm, but i dont know how..any sugesstions?

Your suppossed to drill it large enough that it fits in snuggly. Then it expands as you screw the tool into it. You may have drilled the hole to big.

You should be able to thread something into it, so that it will expand and grab the metal.

use a slightly larger thread insert and spool bolt. this should work and with minimal cost.

The one time I've had to do this this is what worked best for me...
But I would highly recommed instead of doing this, have a local welding shop weld a piece of bar stock to the underside of your swingarm (like on the cbr600rr) that you can drill and tap for teh correct size thread. It's a much better way to do it.

Thread a hex nut onto a 8mm hex headed bolt.
Place a washer onto the bolt.
Thread the bolt about 1/2 way, maybe a little more into the threaded insert.
Thread the nut down so it's just touching the insert.
Put the threaded insert (with the nut and bolt in place) into your drilled hole.
Using two wrenches, one to hold the bolt in place and one to start tightening down the nut to compress the threaded insert.
