So, I made a road trip of about 330 miles one way. The front brakes worked great going down. Well, I happened to get caught in a little rain on the way down. Well, I didn't notice this before making the 330 mile trip back, but the right caliper started sticking. Long story short, it cooked the right rotor and warped it. The irony of the whole things, I just replaced the rotor a couple weeks ago. Before I installed the rotors, I tore down the calipers and cleaned them thoroughly.
Now, I have to tear down the right one again and clean/free the piston. Then I have to get a right rotor and install it... DOH!!!! These things are such a money pit!!

 

Well, it could be a lot worse.... you could be having to replace 2'nd gear or something nice like that.

See.... look on the bright side...

 

yeah, definately could have been worse. I'd hate to see a stick brake over loose sand in the road.

Just in case your only going to clean and free the caliper. I'd suggest either a rebuild, or buy a new caliper. You don't want to be doing this again. If its sticking, more than likely you have an internal failure on the caliper.

 

I plan on cleaning and rebuilding the caliper. If there are signs of failure/scoring, I'll replace the caliper.
