Default differences from 04-05 to 06-07 1000rr

what are the differences and what parts will fit. a friend hit a deer awhile back and we ran across an 06 for parts just want to find out what will work before buying a blown motor bike.

The only differences that I know of are the upper, mid and side fairings. Everything else will interchange and is the same. The headlights will carry a different part number, but the only difference is the 06-07 has a larger peice of foam on the upper portion of the headlight.. the headlight itself is the same.

The wiring harness may be different though. I think the ECU is different, as well as the 06-07 engine having more compression and slightly different timing.

You could probably mount the 06-07 fairings as long as you have the brackets from the other bike, but not 100 percent sure.

what about the motor what will work, motor mount locations (exhaust pc3 ect)

As far a I know, the engine external are the same, meaning mount locations, dimensions... ect. they are the same motor, with the 06-07 having a little higher compression. I think they also revamped the cylinder wall material, but other than that, they are the same.

The exhaust is also the same. the only difference is the 06-07 has a slightly different end cap on the muffler.
