I had a small oil leak from the Vehicle Speed Sensor (2001 F4i)
The sensor itself works fine. But once I removed it, I saw these small cracks in the plastic mount (see pics below)
Not sure if they were there before or happened during removal. It was extremely, extremely hard to remove as the old O-ring had practically welded itself (hard to tell if it was melted or just super compressed) so it could have happened during removal.
Asking for your best judgement. Would you try to fix the crack or replace the whole assembly?
Even though the $$ would hurt, I'm leaning towards replacement for peace of mind but I'm also not sure as the crack seems minor and is not a sealing surface. The last picture is me pushing on the crack as hard as I can with my thumb.

Replacement is the best option, but that is not a sealing surface and there are 2 bolts that hold it in so you should be fine. Was it leaking from the seal or was it leaking through the sensor/connector?

 

It looked to me like it was the seal. Not surprising once I saw the condition of the O-ring. Still have to carefully scrape it off the crankcase without dropping pieces in there.
How would you repair it? JB weld or something similar? or just leave it be?

+1 on leave it as it, just check every now and again to see if it gets any worse, the metal bushes will take most of the load from the bolts
