Hey all, just got back from a 10 day holiday last night. While I was gone I left my bike parked and covered under the apt. block where i live. We don't have covered parking since i live in a compound so while i was gone the temperature rose to around 45+ celsuis with humidity up the ***. So i arrive last night and go down to take the cover off my bike and i find that a quarter of the way towards the top of my windscreen is all these small cracks all over which i'm assuming was caused by the heat, since in the 4+ months that i've had the bike none of this ever happened but i had been doing my best to keep it parked in the shade while i was at work.

Anyone experience something like this and can it be fixed?

My next question is that a friend of mine is picking up a repsol on tuesday and the techies at honda told him that for the break in period he has to drive it really fast (200km/h+) can someone please outline recommendation for the break in period and what to try and avoid?

I forgot onhe more question. My guess is this is most likely related to my suspension. I haven't modifed the suspension since i got it but i do plan on getting around to it soon, been just taking my time getting used to the bike. Here's my problem. There's this fly-over to get to my house on the way back from work, and i've been slowly increasing my confidence and taking the turn faster each time, I usualy do it between 100-120km/h but when i am closer to the 120km i feel the bike wobble a bit. On my way back from work today i think i took the turn around 130km/h and the bike wobbled alot and almost scared the **** out of me. Any clues if its suspension related and what i should watch out for? Is my suspension too soft or too hard? I think its still at stock but most of the wobbling happens on the rear tire and just feels bouncy all over.

 

If the wind screen has cracks then basically you need a new wind screen. It's hard enough to repair painted plastics let alone clear. On the good side I figure now you get to try a double bubble or other aftermarket type.

For the suspension I'd suggest getting a couple of buddies to help you set the sag. My Busa used to wobble in the curves until I set the sag. In my case I had to give the front more preload even though it felt like the rear end was loose. That fixed it right up. There's a link to a suspension article in the DIY section.

I just wish my windscreen didn't crack because it has the rossi replica stickers on it which came with the bike and in case i wanted to sell it sometime down the road i wanted to have it in perfect condition. I guess whoever buys it will just have to live with it or whichever screen i end up putting on. I'll look into the suspension issues soon. Any info onthe break in period for my buddies repsol? Per the manual:

"Help assure your motorcycle's future reliability and performance by paying extra attention to how you ride during the first 300 miles (500 km).

During this period, avoid full-throttle starts and rapid acceleration."

The most widely accepted break-in procedure consists of easy riding the first 500 miles or so while avoiding cruising at the same RPM for long periods of time (to help seat the rings). After the first oil change and ya get all the little floaty pieces of metal out burn that bad boy up.

There is a rogue faction that says to redline the bitch from day one. I only know of one dude that did that (Nickslick from hayabusa.org) and he was rebuilding the motor with less than 5000miles on the clock.

 

Speak to your honda dealer they should be able to order the stickers in, i got a bit hectic with the pressure washer and blasted a unit pro-link sticker of the swingarm, they have them all on there system. I also inquired about buying a full repsol body kit, limited my *** for £1600 its all yours not including wheels of course.

 

I'll ask about the stickers but i doubt they have them because a friend has a friend who has the same bike as me and has trashed it on one side and apparently he can't get a hold of the stickers anywhere. If you don't mind doing me a favor Anubis, and if it's not too much trouble could you call up your dealer and ask them if they have any of the body stickers for my bike (2002 FS Rossi Replica), i'm going to need the stickers for the right fairing when i end up selling the bike cus a **** pulled in front of me today and i had to lay her down which resulted in some minor scratches that have me pissed off.
