Confused
Hello All
I'm new to this great forum, and to Honda's. I have a CBR600 1992 F2 with 43k on the clock. I've had it for 3 months now. It's a brilliant bike, but it's started to misbehave. She looses acceleration after 20 - 30 minutes riding when the bike is up to temperature. It gets worse very quickly and eventually cuts out. She won't restart, but with the choke out she will blip but won't maintain idle when I let go of the throttle. I leave it 5 to 15 minutes and she starts with the choke out, as normal, but this time she sounds like a broken chain saw. The noise dosn't seem to affect the power and eventually stops after about a minute. If I stop and restart her again the same noise is there. I asked a friend and he thought I had run out of fuel, but there was more than enough in the tank. Anybody have any thoughts as to this confusing issue?

Their are a lot of things that can cause symptoms like that, including the dreaded regulator (common prob). Start with the basics though & any time the choke can make a difference when the bikes is up to temp usually indicates that your carbs are in need of attention (tune & balance). But plugs etc need to be looked at as well, pull one of the plugs & see what sort of condition its in 1st, good indicator of mixture & state of tune.

Also make sure your tank vent is not plugged or the vent tube is not pinched. Next time it happens, place your ear very close to the fuel filler, put your key in and open it very slowly. If you hear any woosh of air, its more than likely a plugged vent tube and it will starve your bike for fuel.
