Default Clutch How Too?

What controls the Clutch lever to return to the out normal position?

Is it the spring on the shaft outside the cover?

Is it the 4 main springs inside the basket?

My clutch lever won't returnwithout me pushing it out. I have replaced the cable, have the cover off and the internal springs out, yet to mic. them but they all appear close to one another, exterior spring appears to be fine but isn't very stiff.

Any ideas?

Sure your clutch cable is adjusted properly? IICR there is supposed to besomething like 3/8" to 5/8" of play in the lever.

it's the interal springs which push the clutch plates together. your clutch would be slipping like hell, i think, before they got so bad that they can't even pull your clutch lever/cable out.

did you rotate the the disengagement shaft on the case cover as you put the cover back on it kinda goes on like a cam lock style shaft if you rotate it too far when you take it off and dont rotate it back when you put it back on you will get some real messed up problems . did the case go back on easy or did you feel alot of pressure when you bolted it back on

My bike sat unused for a few months, refill with fuel, clean carbs, fire it up... Yippeee

pull in clutch, engage gear nothing, slowly push lever out and creeps, pull back in idle.

I can get it going, but it ain't safe to ride or easy to shift gears, so it does work, sorta.

nothing else has changed, drained the oil, looked perfect, removed cover, removed the spring retainer, 4 springs everything in place, plates are free, cage rotates freely.can't see anything wrong.

I can't get the center nut off as i don't have a wayof holding the cage and i'm not fat enought to keep the rear tires from spinning with it in gear.

I just don't know where else to turn.

k i have e few questions so we can eliminate some stuff with out me being there to see it.
1. why are yu replacing the cable in the first place
2. did you remove the case cover so you could replace the cable or were you replacing others items also
3. did you at any point remove any steel or fiber plates from the basket
4. if you had the pressure springs out of the basket did you replace them exactly the same way they came out
5. did you tighten the springs one at a time or did you alternate them until they were evenly tightened

Problem resolved.

The nut on the lever had seized causing the lever to drag, wasn't anything inside the Clutch, now i have to wait for the gasket to close it up.

What a pizzer.

New clutch cable, 19.00

New set of springs, 14.00

2 New Gaskets, because i knew i'd screw 1 up, 6.00

1 shot of WD40, Priceless.
