Default CLUTCH FLUID DISCOLORED?

IS THERE ANYBODY OUT THERE THAT HAS A 2006 CBR 1000RR THAT HAS THE CLUTCH FLUID TURNING DARK IN COLOR ALMOST BLACK. I HAVE TAKEN THE BIKE INTO HONDA TWO TIMES AND THEY HAVE TOLD ME THAT THERE IS NOTHING WRONG. THE FIRST TIME THEY CHANGED THE FLUID THINKING THAT IT WAS CONTAMINATED FROM THE FACTORY, THE SECOND TIME THEY DID NOTHING. THE CALLED THE TECH LINE FOR HONDA AND THEY TOLD THEM THAT DUE TO THE EXCESIVE HEAT ON THE NEW CLUTCH'S AND THE SMALLER RESIVOIR THAT THIS WOULD CAUSE THE DISCOLORING OF THE FLUID. I PICKED UP THE BIKE AND WENT ON A HONDA SPONCERED RIDE AND ALL OF THE OTHER GUY'S WERE THINKING THAT THEIR IS SOMETHING WRONG. MY BIKE ONLY HAS 2,000 MILE'S ON IT AND HAS HAD THIS ISSUE FROM THE FIRST OIL CHANGE @ 600 MILE'S. DOE'S ANYONE ELSE HAVE THIS PROBLEM?

You mean your engine oil?If so thats normal for it to discolor ..Esp on new bikes while they are breaking in.

I dont have a clutch resevoir, But I do change my brake resevoir's every 10000 miles. I't is pretty common for them to change color. The heat is the major factor. I wouldn't worry about it.

Normal. When the Dot 4 fluid (clutch fluid) gets hot it turns dark. It swirls around in the line and mixes with the clean fluid in theresivoir and turns it dark.

dude its fine. and the 1000rr's have clutch resivoirs(sp). it will always be darker. you can flush it out and put new fluid in, but after 1000 miles it will be dark again. ride it, dont sweat it. switch to a kevlar or braided ss clutch line, this might help with the color change a bit.

I asked my local Honda dealer and I was told my clutch fluid was dark because there is rubber inside the line or clutch master cylinder that causes the discoloration. So it is a normal event and over time the clutch master cylinder will need to be rebuilt (As will the brake master cylinder). Perfectly normal to see it change to a black color. If you changethe fluidevery two years when you change the brake fluid you should be fine. I believe every 4 years the lines are supposed to be changed with fluid changes every 2 years. If your brake fluid is amber colored than change fluid for brakes and clutch.

THIS ALL MAKE'S ALOT OF SENCE, BUT SHOULDN'T THE BRAKE FLUID TURN THE DARK COLOR ALSO? I HAVE NEVER HAD THIS PROBLEM DUE TO THE OLDER BIKE'S NOT HAVING A CLUTCH FLUID RESIVOIR. I APPRECIATE ALL OF THE COMMENT'S FROM EVERYBODY. I'M A HONDA CERTIFIED TECH, BUT ON THE CAR SIDE OF HONDA. I REMEMBER SEEING THE BIKE GUY'S AT THE HONDA SCHOOL IN TORRANCE CA. TUNING BIKE'S AND THAT'S WHEN I FELL IN LOVE WITH THE CBR'S. THANK'S AGAIN.

Here is my other thought.

On my Kawasaki I was told it had to do with aluminum. When aluminum starts corroding it gets a black coating on it. You will notice this if you ever polish aluminum. The rag will turn black. Maybe it also turns the fluid black?

Why is it so black compared to the brake fluid. Maybe because there is only a very tiny clutch reservoir as compared to the brake reservoir and also there is more wear on the clutch than on the brake pistons. Who knows ?

If you are that worried about it change it more often than the brake fluid.
