Clutch Cable and Tire Question

Clutch Cable and Tire Question
How much play should the clutch lever have? What is involved in replacing the cable?
Also I need a new rear tire, do you all reccomend anything? New rider so not really racing, stunting, or anything yet... So I dont need a top of the line racing tire but I also dont want a cheap tire with no traction or anything...

RE: Clutch Cable and Tire Question
I just replaced the clutch cable in my 01 F4i. It is a fairly simple operation, although there is one thing you must NOT forget and that is to buy a new cable tensioner with the new clutch cable. I did not do this and the parts store failed to tell me that it came seperately. To make a long story short the tensioner is vital to make the clutch work. I am fairly new to bikes and since I did not realize the importance of the part, I put the cable on and the clutch didn't work. I thought it was an internal problem so I took the crankcase off and everything. I was not a happy camper when I found out it was that little $5.00 thing.
