Yeah that's fine it just makes it a little harder because you cant freely spin the wheel to check chain for tight and loose spots. But i just adjusted my chain right now on the kick stand. You should be fine.

Make sure you measure the slack at the tightest spot, or you might run into a problem of having a chain which is to tight.

Yes, it's O.K. I recentley found out thru my mechanic that it's fine to do it that way. Just make sure everything is tight & secure before take off...On most cbr's their are small grooves or notches, by where the chain gets tightened up. Make sure they match on both sides... For example if your chain side is on for grooves, the other side has to match.

Yeah i use a ruler to make those measurments almost perfect. i found out that each of those grooves are about 1/4 of an inch, so i just measure it that way, and do the same to the other side. Its not exactly right on the dot, but i dont think .003 of an inch makes a difference. lol but its always good to be careful so make sure you use a ruler too

A problem I had when I was new to all this. I had the bike on the centre stand, I got both sides equal and started tightening the main nut. Once Id got it semi tight I then realised the bolt that goes through the rim had moved backwards a touch on the brake side. To the point where there was about a 1mm gap in that plate with the bolt and 2 nuts at the end of the swing arm.

I now get it to the point its just biting and take a rubber hammer and just tap it to make sure its sitting snug.
