Default Chain Stretch/Maintenance...

Hey guys, whats up. I was just wondering how long (miles, months, whatever) it takes before the initial chain stretch/wear is usually finished. I just installed a new chain/front&rear sprocket not too long ago, and it seems as if I have to adjust a lot more often now.

Also, how often do you guys adjust your chain? My 600 RR recommends the chain be at 1 1/4 inch of free-play... how far do I let it go before I adjust it? Im sitting at 1 1/2 right now, is that bad []

thanks for any replies/help,

Chris

Default RE: Chain Stretch/Maintenance...

I was wondering this also. I just have 160 miles on my '05 600RR. I just adjusted it some. It was at about 1 3/4" when I did it. It is right at 1". I hate adjusting the chain. I did the same amount of turns on each side and it appears on the id marks on the swingarm that they are at the exact same spot on both sides. I also measured how far the indicator on the bottom of the axle is on each side and it is exactly the same. It is just a bitch to make sure it is right on. I am SO affraid of messing it up and having one side off from the other and messing my bike up. Anyone have any suggestions to make it easier???
