Default Chain size

I have searched the forum but I cannot seem to find anything that tells me how to tell which chain(520,525,530) my bike has. It has a master link that is obviously bigger than the chain and I know the chain is an RK chain but cant find #'s on any of the links. Wondering if there is a way to measure to get size.

Ohhh, that's a tough one.

Maybe you can identify either sprocket, and knowing what sprockets you are using you can find out the pitch distance.

Found this on another forum:

As this question seems to come up frequently, here is a diagram that can be used to distinguish 520 and 530 drive chains.

By using a scale or caliper to measure the roller width between the inside plates, they can be easily identified.

Nominal Dimensions Are:

520 = 1/4" - (0.25") - [6.35mm]

530 = 3/8" - (0.38") - [9.52mm]

*Both chains are standard #50 pitch of 5/8" - (0.625") - [15.88mm]
