Default Chain Removal

if i want to remove my stock 525 chain to place it in kerosene and clean it, can i buy any brand of 525 masterlink to replace the old one, or do i have to buy OEM. Also, is there any other way to remobe the masterlink besides using a chain breaker, or do i have to buy one?

to remove you can take a hack saw and cut the middle of the master link then once its out hope you can bend the 2 metal pieces off...

you can just buy a new master link. make sure you get a rivet master link though

Here`s a link. If you have Dremel (or similar), you can grind the rivets off.

its best to get a master link of the same brand. the pins and rollers can vary in size.
