Default chain clearance

Hi Guys,
My bike was laid down on its left hand side by the previous owner and I have been restoring it. I noticed shifter/foot peg/foot guardbracket was bent toward the bike when the accident happened. So when I installed the missing shifter rod on this bracket it was rubbing against the chain. So I bent the bracket back out by using a pry bar and so far I managed to get about 1/2" clearance between the shifter rod boot and the chain.
My question is, how much is the OEM clearance? I would really appreciate it, if ,at least, couple of you give me shout with your readings.

Thank you so much guys!

Im not sure on the clearance. you could probably measure from the frame on the other side and then adjust the bent to the same distance.

But, if I were you, I wouldnt ride a bike with a weakened rearset. You'd be amazed at how much weaker that one will be after being bent back and forth. It would be a really bad thing if it broke off while you were riding it. My first purchase would be a new one.

Hey justasquid,
Thank you for the good advice. I will definetly keep the metal fatigue issue in mind and watch for signs.
But I wanna give this a try, so when you guys near your bike next time, please take peek and eyeball the chain - shifter clearance for me and send me a quick note. I don't know anybody who owns an F4i unfortunatelly, I am counting on you guys!

Happy Holidays!!

On mine you can barely stick your finger in between the two. I'd say about 1/2 inch clearance. Probably closer to 1/3 inch. Pretty damn close to it anyways.

Hey Incognito,
Thanks a lot for your feedback! that's pretty much what I got too. I think I am in good shape. I also measured the distance to frame on both sides, as Justasquid suggested, that clearance looked very good to. I feel good about this now.

Thankyou again Justasquid and Incognito. I wish you guys and rest of the good folks herea happy & healthynew year!!
