Default CCT issue I read about in another thread...

Could that possibly be cuasing the wierd vibration that I thought was coming from my engine at 4000-5000 rpm's. It sounds like something is rattling or vibrating really hard but only at certain rpm.

Is it an expensive fix at the dealership?

EVERYTHING is expensive (over priced) at the stealership...And NO it will not cause any dammage if you keep on riding. Thousands of posts about folks complaining about the noise and replacing it (the CCT), but I've only heard of one instance where it caused any dammage. i.e. the chain skipped a tooth (probabley a few) and threw the timing outta whack and rammed the piston into the valve. You can get an APE manual cct on eBay for 42 bucks. or get an oem from the stealer for 70, and worry about doing it again in a year or two.

There is a guy selling X-11 CCTs that he got from Japan for $70 shipped in the US, on cbrxx.com - much improved over the OEM.
