Default CBR900RRN - needle bearing on gear shift shaft?

Hi. I'm putting my CBR900RRN (original '92 FireBlade) engine back together and am a little confused as to my engine compared to a parts fiche. Specifically where the gearshift shaft exits the LHS crankcase (where it then has the gearshift lever attached). The parts fiche shows an oil seal on the outside (part 20 in the piccie attached) which is there and will be replaced. But it also shows a needle bearing inside of this and I'll be b$ggered if I can see it. Check the pictures and you'll see it just has a machined recess for the seal, no bearing.

What have others seen here? Anyone actually removed a needle bearing from this location?

If I get no reply and can find no other information I'll just replace the seal and be done (no problems before the strip-down from this part) but it'd be nice to clear up my confusion on this ......

Thanks in advance. Oh, I put it into 'general' rather than the Blade specific forum as other bikes use the same engine and even more use the same bearing part number ...
