My son has left his 1999 CBR900RR with me for long term storage and I've decided to give it a complete overhaul and 16k service while I've got it. I will probably have a lot of questions as I get into this project but to start with:

I would like to clean up the exhaust system. The rear silencer looks to be stainless but are the original downpipes also stainless? If so, I intend to polish up the complete exhaust system.

I'm sure this has been discussed to death previously but what is the best way of supporting the bike (its currently on my hydraulic lift) so that I can remove the wheels and swinging arm in the absence of a centre stand? I have ordered a small scissor platform and it looks as though I should be able to position this under the lower frame behind the engine but is this likely to be practical?
