I recently replaced the fuel pressure regulator on my '03 CBR F4i. I drove it a few miles to work the next day, but found that after I got to work I could not start it again due to what appeared to be a dead battery. Luckily after letting it sit while I was at work I was able to start it again and drove it home. When i got home I put the battery on a charger for a while, but even after a full charge it still would not crank. I've had the bike since '08 and I don't ever remember replacing the battery. So i figured the battery was just bad.
This evening I installed a new battery, however the bike is still behaving as if it has no power. When I turn the key the [N] and [FI] lights and the back-light on the display will light very dimly. I can hear and feel a relay under the read seat clicking, but I do not hear the fuel pump prime. The horn and head lights also do not work.
I tested the battery with a multi-meter and it reads 12.6 volts. I also tried wiring up another relatively new 12V 35AH battery I have and the bike behaves the same. So now I'm wondering if a forgot to plug something in, something became loose, or there is a short?
I noticed there is a black connector between the two connectors for the ECU that is not plugged into anything. It has a green and brown and green wire. I don't see anything obvious to connect this to though.
Any ideas what else could be wrong, or what else I can check?
