CB400T help please !!
Lol, nah but i've got it running, got the kick start half working but the starter still wont. Will kick start when clutch is not being held in.
Wont run long, thinking the carbs are still dirty. Going to try soaking them in some B12 chem-tool for awhile....and if that don't work break down and get the rebuilds kits for them.
Going to tear it all down again Thursday and try to find my starter problem. Till then im going to work on getting these carbs cleaned up and try to find some shorter shocks for the rear. Also cant find anywhere online how large i can go on the rear wheel or what swing arm will bolt on it.....
Not much online about these bikes except people who are turning them into cafe racers.
Appreciate all the help !!! Ya'll just dont know how much lol, AAALLLOOOTTT
Funny how i can't get help from people on the chopper/bobber/cruiser sight's but can still find help on my good ole CBR Forum.

Just my .02 but I'd try cleaning them without soaking them first. If you don't get every single piece of rubber out of them and soak them, it's ruined. That B-12 is kickbutt stuff. Only carb cleaner I'll use.
Thx for all the help, soaked the carbs in B12 ( didn't see your post til after ) and it turned out they were clean to begin with......I have the throttle and throttle return backwards
Now its running like a top, next step is to pull the alternator assembly and see if that gear will turn. If not then i'll order whatever parts to get that working. Til then im looking for a new cheap solo seat and universal handlebar controls. So far im finding seats for around $60 and then another $75 for the parts to bolt it on.
Also trying to find a linkage kit to extend my shifter and foot brake that doesn't kill my wallet. So far im looking at about $160 for just the linkage kit and pins needed. May look into building my own, it looks to be metal tubing and some fasteners.
Wont post were i found it.....don't want to be told im advertising websites again.

New update :
Bought a new set of carbs for it and a vtx1300 oem seat to mount on it. The diaphragm on the carbs and the jets were pretty bad off and the kits needed to fix it cost more than a working carburetor. Planning on making my own forward controls and seat mounts. When i get some of the cosmetic work done I'll post up some pics. I know this is a sport-bike forum but figured the ones who have been helping me would like to see the spoils of my labor lol.
Plan on putting the carbs on and getting the seat mounted this coming up weekend. About to start a new job so may be a little longer than anticipated to completely finish the project.
Found a universal handlebar switch with light, turn and run/off switches im going to run since im not going to fix the starter. To replace the starter clutch i would have to pull the motor and crank shaft out. Not wanting to go through all this trouble when the kick-start works fine. Although when i finish probable going to either resale and buy a newer model bike to do or just keep this one and buy a newer model any how.

.....or would i have to pull the motor, the manual says yes but some google searches says otherwise. People explain the way they did it without pulling the motor.
Take off left case and remove alternator, get a rotor puller and pull rotor out and clutch is behind this. Wish my manual gave instructions on this, going to try it this weekend and see if i can get to the starter clutch anyhow. Kick starting this machine is a bitch with my bad knee.

I can't imagine why in the world you would need to. Should be just like you mentioned...pull flywheel and it's right behind it. Bolts have loctite from the factory so they may be a lil tough to get out..
In the haynes manual it says to get to the crankshaft to get the starter clutch off you have to split the case. It keeps refering you to other sections of the repair manual until it finally gets to "see engine removal." So i though i was going to have to pull the motor to get to it. Going to get the tool it mentions online ( rotor puller ) and pull it all after i finish with the bike. So i can have both kick start and electric.
Here's some pics of the seat im going to be trying to fit on it. And later on i'll be looking for a new tank.

Glad to see you've got it going again.
Funny how just after you posted about getting it, I was taking the dog for a walk & round the corner someone had parked on of these.
To me they look great, they also come with ABS & Stainless Steel exhaust & here they are sold as a LAMS bike (Learner approved motorcycle scheme).
If only the made one around the 650/750 range.
