Default Calculating amount of chain links for -1/+2 520

Doing the 520 on a 03 600rr with 15T/45T sprockets this weekend. While doing research on the project I cant find a sure way to calculate or "eye" the amount of chain links needed. Is it as simple as wrapping the chain around the sprockets with the wheel all the way back and adjusters turned out (new chain spot), and see where it meets the rest of the chain? just wanna know how anyone else did it. thanks
