Cable lube ??
I was wondering what everyones thoughts were on the best cable lube.. ?
I have been a WD40 abuser for years
My throttle cables have slowly become as tight as a dingo arsehole ... and I am going to attack the buggers with some lube tomorrow night..
If anyone has any great favorite lubes for this job, input would be appreciated.....
or its neck deep into the WD40 again for me ...

RE: Cable lube ??
I use superlube or anything with Teflon in it. it dries dry (does that make sence?) and does not collect any grime. I have been using it on Bicycle brake cable and the chain for years as well as my speedo cable on the motorcycle. I ride an old '93 1000f, Hydrolic clutch so not much experience there though.

If the chain lube gets too gooey, WD40 should be able to flush it out. WD40 cuts grease better than anything.

I was advised to try CHAIN LUBE ...... FOR GET IT !!!!!!!!
Unless you like a 3000 rpm Idle and man handling your throttle back to an idle pace under gear changes FOR GET IT !!! [:@]
I got some new teflon lube and it bought my outttta control idle back to normal .... I may want to get away from the WD40 THING ... but I was not wanting the bloody cables to freezeeeee !!!!
Sticky ****t that stuff is great on chain ... but on cables .. no way ..
The new teflon spray is a ripper
My throttle is now a dream
I forget who said try chain lube ... but when I track that post back ...look outttt !!

RE: Cable lube ??
How old are the existing cables ? Do you keep the bike outdoors ? Exposed to any rain / condensation / overnight temperature change / rust getting in those cables ?
I replaced mine recently, were over 10 years old... one was fine but stretched to the max. The other one actually snapped as I removed it (from rusting right in the middle and years of rubbing back and forth had weakened it right in the middle also)
You should consider replacing your cables if they're old. You don't want to be in an accident caused by a cable snapping.
