Default Broken ignition switch

Today someone tried to steal my CBR 600F 1989 (unsuccessfully) but they've ruined the ignition switch. There's no way to get the key in but the steering lock is on and so the bike can't be moved. Does anyone know of a way to get the lock off and the bike started or do I have to call a locksmith and get it drilled out? I don't want to break the steering lock as my bike is mint and although it's old, everything is original and I would like to keep it that way. Any help would be appreciated.

I rplaced the ignition on my 98 900RR.The ignition is held in with bolts from the bottom. These bolts are special ones that are NOT meant to be removed. The head where you insert the allen wrench will strip out if you try to do it yourself.I found this out the hard way.Take it to a bike shop,or the dealer if you you have no other choice.Maybe a lock smith but you must remove the front fairing for this.Good luck.
